arrived home and quickly to the machine, it's on timer so been warming up for 1.5h today.
17.8g of fresh roasted beans - checked!
grind, tamp and portafilter ready - checked!
cooling flush, now only ~8 seconds - checked!
another ~10 seconds for locking portafilter, kitchen scales under the cup, etc - checked!
started extraction and CREMA! WOW, good start. 27 seconds later i have 25g of amazing looking espresso in the cup.
time to try it. very good, indeed.
thus, i guess my problem was the way too long cooling flush. will try tomorrow morning to replicate same algorithm in hope to make again a superb shot. will report back.
thank you for advice regarding the shorter flush!

Re: La Scala Butterfly
17Maybe you could flush less long and also turn down the pressostat for the boiler pressure/temperature a bit.

Re: La Scala Butterfly
19It is worth the try.
If the water seems too hot still, then maybe the boiler is set to be hotter than necessary.
What is the boiler pressure?

20If you want to set the boiler pressure a little less high this is where to find the pressostat:
