hi everyone, i hope you speak english.

has someone on here a La Scala Butterfly machine?
i need some advice, please.

indeed, a better idea is to introduce myself.
two days ago i've upgraded from a PID Rancilio Silvia to La Scala Butterfly, 2004 model, 1.5l boiler with 0.25l HX.
okay.
first shot was pretty good, joy and happiness.

now other shots for these 2 days, i don't know why, are complete disaster.
they are very sour/no crema. even i let machine warm for an hour.

i do the cooling flush. it takes ~17seconds and then the water stream stops fot 1-2 seconds at all, then it goes steady.
it is normal behavior? should i stop the flush at 17 seconds mark, when the water stops and then put the portafilter and get my extraction?

Flushing for so long cools down the water and group resulting in a low temperature and acidic taste. Try flushing 3 seconds.

Why did you start flushing for 17 seconds because that's way too long for any machine?

The machine is not the only element that's important for a good taste & crema.

It all starts with the beans. You have not explained what beans you use, where from, what roaster, what roast date.

Why do you do a "cooling flush"?

And if it's necessary, why such a long one?

What's the effect if you just do 2-3 seconds of 'cooling flush'?

Yes that sounds normal if you flush that long. You probably flushed all pressure out of the HX, then next the pump tries to re-fill the HX and then cool reservoir water, somewhat warmed up, comes out.

Did you get a manual with the machine? Have you watched video clips about preparing espresso?

that's my first HX and i was told to wait for the water to become pouring slowly. and this happends after that seconds with no water.

The machine is not the only element that's important for a good taste & crema.

It all starts with the beans. You have not explained what beans you use, where from, what roaster, what roast date.
i use fresh roasted beans from local roaster. same beans do excellent espresso on PID Silvia, or done once on this HX. so it can be done, theoretically.

no manual. found one on internet, no word about cooling flushes there.
yes, but cant find a video helping me.
i'm from Moldova. on HB there's almost no info for this very model. on this forum La Scala Butterfly comes on google pretty often, i hope to find someone who has one.

You may have misunderstood. If the water is too hot, then first there is a steamy splutter and after 2-4 seconds just the hot rain.
